Welcome to the 2017 Queensland Secondary Principals Conference Synergy. The tradition of an outstanding conference program recognising and celebrating the leadership of Queensland Secondary Principals and Deputy Principals continues in 2017. Our Conference program provides a platform for professional learning and collegiality; one that will support our leadership of 21st century schools. The Conference Committee is proud to present to you a range of highly acclaimed speakers that will support your engagement with our theme Synergy, both during the Conference and upon your return to your schools. Keynote Speakers include Richard Gerver , author of Change: Learn to Love It, Learn to Lead It, which offers a ground breaking look into how the world is dealing with the challenge of unleashing human potential and embracing and leading change; Dominic Thurbon, Chief Creative Officer and Co-Founder of international behaviour change organisation ChangeLabs; Rabia Siddique, an Australian criminal and human rights lawyer, retired British Army officer, former terrorism and war crimes prosecutor, international humanitarian, hostage survivor and published author; Bernard Salt, leading futurist, commentator, author, analyst and advisor to business and government on consumer, culture and demographic trends and Lucy Clark, author of Beautiful Failures, a book about kids and education and her take on the way we measure success will challenge us all. We are privileged to welcome Dr Carmen Lawrence, Australia’s first female Premier and Treasurer of a State Government as guest speaker at our Friday lunch. We are pleased to welcome our Minister who will once again open our Conference. Day 1 of our 2017 Conference provides an additional day of professional development for Principals, Deputy Principals and Heads of Department (Wednesday 7th of June) and we welcome all who are able to take advantage of this opportunity. Keynote speakers include Dr John Edwards, Managing Director of Edwards Explorations, an Australia-based company concerned with exploring and developing human potential. John Edwards is one of the few international researchers who has turned his research into award-winning practice in education, in business and industry, and in high performance sport and Steve Francis, a leading educator and author. Steve works with leaders and staff in schools to help them reach their potential. His experience ensures that he can connect with all staff working in schools. Steve brings passion, energy and enthusiasm to his professional development programs. Steve knows what it takes to create cultures and organisations that grow through learning and make the most of change opportunities.
